We would like to inform you about the Breast Cancer Symposium on Saturday 7 October in Kasteel Vanenburg in Putten, organised by the “Jij speelt de hoofdrol” (You play the lead role) Foundation.
The ‘Van patiënten voor patiënten’ (For patients, by patients) symposium is all about taking the time to choose. Which choices do patients with breast cancer have? You don’t have to do it on your own. What or who can help and what support is out there?
There are two general lectures in the morning, entitled: Tijd om te kiezen (Time to choose) and Samen beslissen met je arts, hoe doe je dat? (Deciding together with your doctor, how do you do that?) There are various workshops in the afternoon, including a workshop for men with breast cancer, entitled: “Waar hebben mannen met borstkanker behoefte aan?” (What do men with breast cancer need?)
This workshop for men with breast cancer will be led by Frans Bon. He is an expert through experience and active as a patient advocate for the Dutch Breast Cancer Society (BVN). Tom Bootsma, working as a researcher, will talk about the project results: Optimal information and care for men with breast cancer.
There will be time for sharing experiences and asking questions too.
The workshop is only open to men who have been treated for breast cancer.
There will be plenty of time to speak to each other both during and after the programme.
